You made me remember Castiel and Gabriel have no more interaction after this, and that makes me angry.
Also, can we discuss the look in gif 6. I would really like to focus on that look.
Yes let’s focus on that look! Let’s focus on how he has that snarky “Fuck you” look all big brothers have when they do something to piss off their younger siblings. That’s the look of “You can’t do anything and you know it. Come at me, bro, you won’t win this.” That is pure, unadulterated older brother - smirking asshole waiting for a reaction to something new, unsure if he’s gone too far and consciously deciding not to care if he has.
And then it’s bitter. “I didn’t go too far. Shit, he expects me to do this? Fuck I fucked up. Wait, he’s going with them? He trusts apes over his older brother?”
And then upset. “Damn it who the hell did I become that my little brother doesn’t believe in me anymore. Fuck fuck fuck he chose people he met a year ago over the brother who raised him.”
So yes, let’s focus on that look. Let’s focus the hell on that look and how it’s probably the point where he decides that he’ll keep an eye out and if they seem to be getting too close to death, he’ll step in, because strict neutrality isn’t worth letting his little brother lose his best friends. Let’s focus on how this goddamn show places so much importance on family and choices, especially in season five. Let’s talk about how in this scene, Cas chooses his new family over his blood family and that is portrayed as the right thing, and how that choice is the catalyst for making Gabriel rethink his choices.
Let’s discuss gif 6 until there is nothing left to say.
Congrats, you just hit the nail on the head with that one. The final nail on my coffin. Good-bye, cruel world.
